Ms. Tornetta Boyd was born March 9, 1964, in Columbia, SC to Phillip Curry and the late Rudene Boyd Turner and departed this life on December 19, 2024, at Lexington Medical Center after an extended illness.
She attended the public schools of Newberry County and graduated from Mid-Carolina High School in Prosperity, SC.
She was employed with Lexington/Richland County School District 5 up until her illness.
She joined St. Paul AME church at an early age and attended St. Mark AME church often.
Tornetta loved her family dearly. She never meets a stranger. She loved to sing and talk; she loved that telephone. Her favorite times of the year were Christmas and her birthday.
Tornetta was preceded in death by her mother, grandparents Allen and Mable Bailey; Clarence and Laura Garmany; Elizabeth Martin Boyd and William Boyd.
Those left to cherish her precious memories are her father Phillip Curry of Pomaria, SC; her son Andre Sims (Michelle) of Columbia, SC; three Brothers, Kenneth Syphertt (Tina) of North Augusta, SC; Brian Curry (Nina) of Simpsonville, SC; Kelvin Curry (Jennifer) of Irmo, SC; one Sister, Audra Sherrill (Derrick) of Woodstock, Ga. Four aunts, Marlene Flemon and Eva Curry of Pomaria, SC; Mable Eargle of Columbia, SC and Ethel Wilson of Beaufort, SC. A great aunt Edna Williams. Nieces and Nephews: Myles Keith Curry, Brittany Yeldell (Giorgio), Kenisha Syphertt, Allana Curry, Jaden Curry. Brandon and Markis Flemon, whom she took as her nephews A cousin that's like a sister Yolanda Boyd Gantt (James); other special cousins: Michael Eargle (Marie); John Tymon Eargle (Yuko); James R. Williams, Roger Williams, Ronald Curry, Stanley Curry, Sandra Williams, Diana Caldwell Lenora Glover, Naomi Billie (Rembert); Crystal Wilson, Jaquanda Wilson, Brandon Wilson, Destiny Wilson, Joshua Boyd, Alaysia Boyd, Marc Shaw, Gabriel Eargle, Micah Eargle, Mikayla Eargle, Michael Williams, Demetria Williams (Toshai), Brian Caldwell, Jeffery Williams Jr.
In addition, she leaves very Special Friends: Mary Darby, Rosa Metts, Angela Pooser Ecton, Kathy Pooser Rabune, The Pooser Family, Tripp and Ann Jones, Virginia Beck, Faye Golding, Kim Holland and Dana Berry. She leaves a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
Visitation will be held 1-5pm Sunday December 22, 2024, Wilson Funeral Home Newberry, SC.
Funeral Service will be held 2pm Monday December 23, 2024, St. Mark AME Church, Pomaria, SC.
Intermet will follow at St. Paul AME Church, Pomaria, SC.
