Mrs. Virginia Sligh Spearman , daughter of the late Rev. Eugene Spencer Sligh and Matilda Clark Sligh, was born September 17, 1932 in Newberry, South Carolina. She entered the arms of Jesus Monday December 7, 2020. She was blessed with 88 years, she was truly a child of God.
Mrs. Spearman attended and graduated from Drayton Street School in Newberry SC, she also worked and retired from Louis Rich after 28 years. Virginia was the President of Women Aid Society Lodge #61 and Executive President of all lodges of the Home Benefit. She was also a member of the Reeder-Glenn Eastern Star #460. She enjoyed the time she spent with her Birthday Club; Betty Lindsay, Eugenia Wallace, Mary A. Suber, Alberta Shelton, Carrie Lyles and Michelle Davis.
Mrs. Spearman was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend.
Mrs. Spearman was preceded by her parents; Rev. Eugene S. Sligh and Mrs. Matilda Clark Sligh, husband William Spearman Jr., daughters; Carolyn E. Spearman and Miriam N. Caldwell.
She leaves to cherish her memories a daughter; Mrs. Laconiyia Williams (Anthony) two sons; Jerry Spearman (Roberta) and Terry Spearman (Veronica) six grandchildren and five great grandchildren, her dedicated nephew and niece; Willie Sligh and Deborah Sligh Mathis, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be graveside Saturday December 12, 2020 12:00 pm at New Enoree Baptist Church in Newberry, SC. Viewing will be from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm Friday December 11, 2020 at Wilson Funeral Home.
