Willie D Sims Sr.

Mr. Willie Daniel Sims Sr. was born July 19, 1944 to the late Daniel Robert Sims and the late Pearl Crump Sims in Pomaria, SC.  He entered eternal rest November 19, 2022 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Willie truly enjoyed his family.  Among his favorite pastimes were fishing, watching his favorite Dallas Cowboys and enjoying a good meal.  He was a master black belt in Karate and gave lessons to many.

Willie was predeceased by his wife, Reenay Koon Sims; a daughter, Tawanda Sims; a brother Forrest Sims and a sister, Evelyn "aka Beatrice" Mathis.

He leaves to cherish precious and loving memories two daughters, Katherine Nelle Sims and Margie (Calvin) Austin; two sons, Willie Daniel (Jalisa) Sims Jr. and Willie Ray (Carolyn) Harmon; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three sisters, Katherine Sims, Valerie (Eddie) Ruth and Annie (Rodney) Paige; an aunt, Vivian Sims; sisters-in-law, Teresa (James) Sanders, Doris (Sonny) Nelson, Priscilla (Jim) Henderson, Margaret (Robert) Goree, Julie Barnes, Hixey Burton and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held Saturday November 26, 2022 from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the parlor of Wilson Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will be 3:00 pm on Sunday November 27, 2022 at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Newberry, SC.  All are required to wear a mask.

Interment following the service at St. James AME Church Cemetery in Pomaria, SC.
