Mrs. Virginia Mayer Jones

Mrs. Virginia M. Jones, widow of David W. Jones, Sr., of 144 Henry Street, Prosperity, South Carolina entered into the arms of Jesus on Friday, August 5, 2016. Born in Prosperity, SC, she was the daughter of the late Mr. Arthur Bennie Mayer and the late Mrs. Lillie Mae Caldwell Mayer.

She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Prosperity, SC.

Mrs. Jones was preceded to Heaven by a grandson, LaKunza A. Caldwell; a great grandson, Christian I. Jones; four brothers, James A. Mayer, Adam B. Mayer, Johnny W. Mayer and Jasper Mayer; two sisters, Doris W. Neealy and Edna R. McMorris.

Those who celebrate her life and cherish precious and loving memories are three sons, David W. Jones, Jr. (Brenda) and Maurice C. Jones (Darlene) all of Prosperity, SC and John C. Jones of Newberry, SC; three daughters, Sylvia J. Green, Brenda E. Jones and Gloria J. Caldwell all of Columbia, SC; 11 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; two brothers, Bobby Mayer of Newberry, SC and Herbert Mayer (Madeline) of Montclair, New Jersey; five sisters, Willie Mae Brown (Dr. Wilbur C.) of Greenville, SC, Ida F. Maryland Mayer of Newberry, SC, Betty M. Corley of Norristown, PA, Jeanette Jackson of Shaw Air Force Base, SC and Lillie Tobe of Lugoff, SC; sisters-in-law, Rose G. Mayer of Montclair, New Jersey, Mamie Mayer of Norristown, PA, Maggie D. Jones of Darby, PA and Joan Marie Thomas, of Philadelphia, PA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Antioch Baptist Church, 236 Rikard School Road, Prosperity, SC 29127(viewing one hour prior to the service). Burial will follow in Shiloh AME Church Cemetery, 431 Shiloh Street, Prosperity, SC 29127.
