I was shocked and saddened today to hear of Shirley's passing. I can see her infectious smile in my mind as I think of her. She was a caring & fun person and always a joy to be around. May God comfort each of you as you mourn the loss of your loved one, both family members & friends!

Mrs. Shirley was just like family. Her kind and caring spirit and her hearty laugh is what I will always associate with her. She and my grandmother, Grace Blanton, worked together at Whitten Center. She was a wonderful woman who was there for any major life event. She is one of my many influences in becoming and Special Education teacher. My condolences to the family, and prayers for healing and understanding.

I'm so fortunate to have known and loved you. You were the kind of person people think about when they hear the word "friend." I will always cherish our reconnection as adults which brought many hours of myriad conversations over the years. I was so pleased to hear your laughter and life energy during our very last conversation. May the Peace of the Lord be always with you. To the family, may you know that my thoughts are always with you. With deepest sympathy.

My first memory of Shirley, was when she was preparing for Victoria's arrival. She was the first expectant mother I had been around, and I thought she was absolutely gorgeous! There was something about the way she talked and smiled, that made me want to be around her. She was the first person to tell me "I was pretty"! (I would beg Michelle to take me to visit her) As the years went by, and our paths would cross, there was "still" something about the way she talked and smiled, that made me want to be around her. I will truly miss her.

To the Fant Family,
The first time I met Shirley, she was preparing for the birth of Victoria. How absolutely beautiful I thought she was. She was so kind, so attentive and so engaging that I became star struck! ( I would beg Michelle to take me to see her every time I would visit) As the years went on, whenever I saw her, she had the same ability to be loving, kind, engaging and attentive. She will forever remain beautiful, inside and out to me.

Dear Mrs. Helen, John, Patricia, Vanessa and the entire Summers and Fant family,

I am so saddened to hear of Shirley's passing. She will always be remembered for her contagious smile, laughter, thoughtfulness and her faith. I never ran into her that she did not greet me with hug and a big smile. She was one of my very good friends at CHS and I can hear her singing the French National Anthem like no other. Please know that you all are in my thoughts and prayers in the coming days and months ahead. Knowing Shirley like I did, I know she is in the presence of her Lord, Jesus Christ and reunited with her daughter, Victoria and her sweet Daddy. I'm glad that I am assured that I will see her again.
My mom, Barbara Prater asked me to send her thoughts and prayers for you all.
Prayers and love to you all.
Melanie
